Let's Get Outside

It's inconceivable that for the first time we finally went camping. One of the finest campgrounds that Southern Indiana, within an hour of Bloomington, has to offer. Brown County State Park.

I don't remember so much beer from the early days of Pinery camping. But it seems like the most natural thing in the world to get up out of the tent and open a beer. Kind of like a reward for having to sleep in a tent.

We took a knee out of respect for the lives of all the hot dogs that were taken too early...

The tricks of the day included riding a bike with no hands for Levi, and tossing and catching a ring for Eva.

And cooking some tarter sauce materials over the fire.

So many interesting people in these campgrounds. Hello to all the friends I've yet to meet!

Insert your own caption for this next picture.

Along with the ubiquitous can of beer there are chips. So many chips.

It's good to know that Grand Bend isn't the only time someone put a tourist town next to a campground. Still, there is always the best ice cream (or fudge, whatever) place that becomes a ritual.

Looking very adult in the camping chair.

Looking very much like children after eating some red garbage from the country store. It's funny how it feels good to call it the "country" store. And how often the kids can be talking into biking the better part of a mile to visit said store.

Not a lot of screen time (no ipads at all), but scrolling through some photos by the light of the fire (and iphone 6 screen).

This was the trip that Eva discovered frogs (with the help of a new friend).

Standing by the lodge pool after getting a couple free passes. Lots of arm tattoos, not a lot of physical distancing. Levi's feet are getting huge.

Back in the tourist town, recreating fashion ads from the 1980s.

I know one is not supposed to pine for possessions that are passed down through the generations. But I really can't wait until these are one day officially mine.

Back home, and back outside, in the sodium light of the backyard, the dogs chill.

Just folding underwear. It's amazing that no song with that title has ever broken the top 100.

Not a tooth ache, from a cartoon circa 1934. It's a boy and his underwear. Again, no song with that title either.

I gave slave ownership a shot. Not great, not terrible.

The ladies of the house.

A remarkable Fathers' Day came and went. I wonder how many more handmade cards are in my future.

Back outside in the yard, dogs enjoy bones. Calli spies the one Cole has and saunters over... doo doo do-do...Cole wasn't having it.

 These two.

We made a little trip out West to SoIll and CenIll. First SoIll, to wine country.

Out here in the country the rules are a little different.

 These two.

No, these two.

We did some dancing at this vineyard. Here's my giving direction to Levi operating the camera.

Off to CenIll. Easily the laziest two days of my life. Which if funny because the only 3 pics of those two days showing up here are quite vertical in nature. First, the note from Eva to her grandparents which now hangs on the wall.

A picture of me by Levi.

I'd recognize that hair anywhere.
