Fathers Day

The week culminated in Fathers Day. But it started in the business world, the kids were given a chance to start their own businesses at camp this week. Below are the letters I wrote to them. I hope they will read them in the years to come when they make decisions about their careers and remember the potential that everyone saw in them early on.

Saturday was spent trying bubble tea for the first time. Well, Eva's first time. Turns out there is a bubble tea place I've driven by for years and didn't even know if was there. I'd forgotten how good (and sweet) they are. Like Eva!

The rest of the day was amazing. First, a kids' party out in the country. Hot day but a great breeze. Perfect for water sports.

It's so great that the kids are at the age now where parents can do this at parties.

That night was about perfect. We finally had a great night for a fire. And tons of playtime in the backyard. Finding Levi's ticklish spot. There is one but I won't say where. But Eva now knows.

As they played with the fire. They basically maintained it for a good chunk of an hour. Did a great job, As I watched them carefully tend to it I felt a sense of accomplishment that they knew how to be careful around a fire. I wondered if my dad felt the same way as we learned stuff, and started to do things like this on our own. On cue, Ooh La La by the Faces came on.

The next day was Fathers Day and I woke up not knowing the plan. That was fine but as I started to think slowly over coffee I couldn't decide. Walking the dogs it hit me. I wanted to drive for hours with the kids in the backseat. I am truly him, Clark W. Some dads have a day away from the kids on the golf course (passed by a bunch of them). Me? I build the scenario that many would call a worst nightmare. Guess my family is just special.

Epilogue: Along the way, or technically at the last stop, Peloza dad was the subject of pictures. One by my daughter, one from my wife. Rare visual appearance on these pages.
