This week is not even half over and already Eva has had so many successes. First, we see that her mug from last year has been photographed and framed as art in her summer camp. Perhaps clay is her medium.
In most weeks, having your piece of art showcased would be the highlight. Not Eva. We go out Monday after camp determined to tackle bike riding one more time. Lots of coasting, and a definite improvement. It felt like she was on the cusp, but you never know when it's going to click. Today, June 18, 2019, we found out how long it would take. About 2 minutes back on the bike, and she's off.
The only things that made me more proud than the riding were the facts that a) she asked me today to go back out and practice, and b) when she had her first fall after getting a little cocky and going way too fast on a downhill, she fought through what I know was a temptation to quit for the day. She had a couple small scrapes, and said she felt dizzy. A quick calm down and she was back on it, riding again. Grabbing a challenge by the horns, and doubling efforts after a setback, will carry her far in life.
