Camp Out

Levi continues with his use of logic at school, time with cause and effect. If there so much pizza that the teacher exclaims "man, it's heavy" the effect is a bunch of kids cheering. Questions?

Outside of school, we're spending more time outside in the gorgeous Fall evenings, here celebrating Cole's 9th birthday. I'd love to put a thought bubble in this picture, but I truly think it's just a monkey in there turning that little handle.

Mom loves her Mr. and Mrs. Dog.

Changing gears, there is nothing like your first pair of cleats to change the life of a 9 year old boy. Here are Levi's, he wants to wear them everywhere. We try to limit their use to fields where they won't actually reduce his traction. But there might be something to this placebo effect because he does seem to be better at football now that he's wearing them.

He gets by with a little help from his thigh.

Exciting event this week, Levi's first sleep away camp. Sure, it was only one night and sure dad was there pretty much the whole time, but still a big deal. Camp is a memorable thing, and I'm gad I went. If for no other reason because it helped me realize just how mature and well-behaved Levi is.

Of course, it's easy to be mature when you are a gagaball king.

The highlight of the trip for both me and him was the fishing. It was a highlight for me because I spent the entire afternoon fixing fishing rods and reels, and putting worms on hooks. For Levi, it was the highlight because he got to practice his casting with a fly reel which is super easy to cast.  Here I capture the first time he cast a line where he put his own worm on the hook. When one thinks about milestones of youth, worms normally don't make the list in any way. But there you have it.
