The first couple weeks of fall were a challenge, as you can see. You know when people say they can't go out because they are washing their hair. For real.
But the dogs, oh sure, the dogs get whatever they want whenever they want it.
Nights spent folding laundry turn begin to take their toll on everyone.
if that weren't bad enough, the sky apparently turned a weird orange color.
Enough. Time to get out of town. The next four weekends were a cornucopia of local and intermediate travel.
Carter Caves is first. Eastern Kentucky and all of those very fine people. On both sides.
You know what they say, everything is bigger in Eastern Kentucky. A couple of pictures for scale.
Nothing to do but commune with nature. Between this and all the veganess, I'm feeling very benevolent or something.
First a random stretchy picture.
Then, staying in tune with nature, the following week we go to Buckhorn Lake. A private golf course just for us. AYCG.
After about 8 rounds over the first day, Eva takes to practice while Levi gets in 36-holes.
More walking around.
And eating. I don't know how these lodge restaurants make any money. No one else in the entire place (being Thursday all the city people had yet to descend). Small town restaurant maybe, two meals worth of food for all of us for 25 bucks. And free crayons!
Venturing out of state next, it's off to Illinois. Stressful for dogs, especially Calli, but here she can run free through the fields.
Cole hogs both beds. Then gets tired of the effort, and gives up some for Calli. She's happy.
Time in the country, though, gives time to reflect. If the gals in this family don't find something constructive to do with their free time I worry about where they might end up in a year or two.
How does one top the streak? This country isn't big enough, time to go to a different one. Excited for the day to come.
With a great yard at our disposal, you know what.
Levi doesn't have the formal training in this specifically, but dang.
With 6.5 hours of grilling and a gorgeous Fall afternoon, hanging outside with the new pup.
Good times indeed.
