Nuthin' But The Best!

School is in full swing now, in one way or another. It can be tiring, especially for young pups and old dogs. Cole: This boy is mine.

Calli: I'll take this guy.

With the end of heat and humidity finally here, yes I wished away virtually all of this summer (and what a summer it was! (memorable for all the wrong reasons (and a few good things too, of course (but mainly a summer tainted by some kind of virus)))), we set one of those "good little areas" out in the backyard. I drank much more beer than usual this summer.

Speaking of beer... one of our favorite beer places (and pizza (and outdoor spaces (and avocado potato skins (but NOT open mike nights!)))) was the scene of the latest kids' montage. Phil Collins had no jacket required, I've got no caption required.

Gorgeous fall weather also means the fire pit is back on. Eva snapped this picture.

And then roasted some marshmallows. Burned them, more like!

And asked to see a picture of her doing the splits from years ago, and then posed for a current version on the patio.

Not good enough? How about some aerials on a backyard zipline/rig.

This school year, for everyone, has provided me the opportunity to be like my mom when I was the kids' age. They don't come home for lunch, per se, but they have lunch at home. And I have lunch ready for them. So much store bought stuff.

Today was mac and cheese. Or as we called it, Kraft Dinner. Although we never had Kraft Dinner, I don't think - when did private label brands come in? Anyway, these are full on brands, with organic pasta no less. They should this the basis of that index where they tell if people are better or worse off then their parents. Something to do with the kind of mac and cheese you have, known as the 'nuthin' but the best! measure.' Just a thought.
