Summer's Eva

Still having the problem of being engaged in life to the extent that it sometimes prevents me from taking pictures of it. Guess I don't need to wait until I have pictures to record it here, but moving on...

Let's see, finished the school year without much fanfare, although a lot of A's. The real summer starts, of course, when Eva arrives. It's crazy to see those Peloza kids get together and just pick up exactly where they left off. One of nightly traditions is to walk the dogs, and here the kids get slightly ahead as if to plan their summer. We've got a good one.

That first weekend included a birthday party for Alexis where the kids were star hosts. It culminated with a rendition of Happy Birthday from Levi on the violin.

Eva is so full of joy and instantly dives into life when she arrives. Here she shows her new friend, Mr. Sparkle, a rolly polly she found at camp. We talked about it at length and decided the best plan for him was to let him live out by the garage so he could be free but she could still visit with him and keep him close.

It's also the summer of Eva because she's picked up on her winter achievements on ice with rollerblading. She's a little unsteady at first, with similar moves to her ice skating at first. But the benefit of blading is that practice is easy, especially with a big brother who is an expert and willing to teach.

It's also the summer of heat. Around the house the best way to beat it is with a hose. Not like we beat something with a hose, but you know what I mean. New googles just in case, here the kids warm up while the sprinkler gets going.

Mandatory runs through the sprinkler.

Then Alexis brought out the water balloons. First they were thrown, but then Levi figured he could be far more effective if he just popped them right above Eva's head.

Of course there is also the pool where they play for hours. Looking ahead I'm more excited about this summer than any one before. And I think it's because the kids just keep getting better together.
