A Summer Of Progress

The kids are making huge strides this summer. First, Eva's stewardship over the rolly polly community of Kentucky led her to discover Rolly Polly City in the front yard. Her love for them is almost fanatical.

Perhaps the best news of all, leaving the house one morning to walk the dogs she found Mr. Sparkle, who had made his way to Rolly Polly City. He got a ride on Eva's hand until she put him on a lovely tree a couple blocks away.

Levi had another round of black belt testing. Here's his sparring, which is looking really good. Especially the reverse spin kicks, very lethal.

The board breaks have long been the downfall of testers, and Levi has pushed the boundary with his previous breaks. It finally got the best of him, as he nailed in the second and third attempts with two kicks, but the hand technique didn't happen. Despite his eye of the tiger approach, it makes me so proud when I see him re-center himself after he misses a break. Best of all, his first opportunity with failure didn't bring him down at all, and he re-tested for his one missing break and nailed it the first time out.

As for other news, one of the nice developments this summer is the frequency of family walks in the evenings with the pups. Here is my family.
