Thanksgiving Part One

I had a feeling like one entry for the entirety of Thanksgiving week (best holiday of the year) would be too massive. Especially since the fun started a couple days before the official start of Thanksgiving week (which, as everyone knows, is the Sunday before Thanksgiving because that is the day that Eva comes!). But the fun really did begin the week before, when Levi figured out by ear how to pluck the ABC song on his violin. The look on his face when he got the sound he wanted, and the connection between his fingers and his ear was complete... it was special. There is a video, but here is the intent little Mozart. Wait, did Mozart play or just write? Because I have to say, that ABC song was out there in the public domain before Levi plucked it. Full disclosure. Tax purposes.

Another Friday night, another UK basketball game. Happy enough to have the seats 2 rows from the ceiling.

But that section 18 is something special. The best part was when Levi asked me if someone was adding the squeaking sounds their shoes make on the floor. Because, you know, you can hear it down in the lower level. He said it sounded like a video game.

Then came Eva. First a dance show, followed by Malibu Jacks. All in one afternoon. Eva danced all the way through the mini-putt course. It was also strange because this was the first time both kids chose games that didn't provide tickets - mini golf, bumper cars, and air hockey. Like that episode of Clarence where they are going to the same kind of place and the one kid asks if they are going to try and win tickets or play the fun games. Ha!

The next night was another date night for me and Eva. The pictures at our usual, Mellow Mushroom, capture the haziness of the feeling, just hanging out. I started to envision the same thing happening when I take Eva to college visits, or visit her at her school. Except for all the tickling of course.

Oh dad.

Date night concluded with a basketball game. First in our usual seats.

Then we also checked out section 18. Eva contemplates whether or not it's worth the $125,000 "capital pledge" for the right to then buy seats in this section.

Another morning, another picture of Eva making bunny ears over avocado toast. Long time readers, or those of who who remember October, will remember this pose.

Then we went into my work. Just like a recent picture with a future Dr. Peloza sitting in my office, here me and Eva collaborated on our first paper together. I asked Eva to sketch out her theoretical framework and this is all she could come up with. I don't the review team at JM will see the contribution.

The best part of the day was when Eva and I operated out restaurant. We've talked before about opening a place together. When I retire I can be of greater assistance, but for tonight I was the chef and she was the hostess/server. We only had one reservation tonight, Alexis and Levi, but we gave them our best. Here is the menu from the meal. One of those prix fix deals. And the fix is not pronounced like Dix (the town in Illinois).

The very best part of the day was when I was handing over the appetizers to Eva to serve the table and as she was leaving the kitchen she leaned back to me and said "this is the funnest night of my life." Boom. Paired with that day in Napa, which she proclaimed the best day or her life, I'd say 2017 has been good to Eva Peloza. And to all of us. Gettin' ready to give some thanks.
