Thanksgiving Part Two

The ending of part 1 was slightly premature. Premature summation. With weather more like early October than late November, in other perfect campfire weather, we couldn't resist one more fire before wintering the patio furniture.

As usual, Cole didn't help one bit.

Next stop, Illinois. Calli figured different house, different rules, so why not lay on the pillows? Eva is soft on crime.

One of the nice things about holidays like Thanksgiving is the intergenerational interaction. And those Peloza kids being who they are, Eva chose to hang out with Miss Donna and preparing the food, or just gabbing on the porch swing, while Levi cut down a tree in the woods with Mister Mike.

Such functional kids. Eva feeds the group while Levi's work helps keep everyone warm.

Speaking of keeping warm, the garage is now insulated and has a wood stove. Not the garage attached to the house, oh no. The old school garage by the road. A perfect place for kids to play - Levi with the basketball and hoop out front and Eva with her lasso. Nothing says family like hanging out in the garage. The weird part is that I actually mean that.

Along the way there were, as usual, many walks in the woods.

So the big day arrives, and Autumn comes over to help with the coloring.

Followed by everyone going across the street to eat, followed by eating, and then a little more to eat.

The other great thing about holidays like Thanksgiving is the interaction within a generation. Although Levi and Wyatt spent the day hanging out, I think it's especially the case for Eva with a double dose of girl cousins of Autumn and Harper.

Apparently it was the first time in decades that six kids were in this house at the same time.

But maybe the best thing about a holiday like Thanksgiving is that it is the perfect context to sit and admire an amazing American wife, doing the perfect American task of prepping vegetables for Thanksgiving dinner while looking this amazing.

Back on Kentucky land, we had another awesome day outside to rake the last bit of leaves that hadn't yet fallen.

More time outside to head to Barker's to cut down our Christmas tree, the best way to cap Thanksgiving week. After decorating the tree and the house, we followed it up with by a weird toe-touching game with Levi and Eva.
