Feeling less studious for not taking part in the trivia challenge at the Science Centre, Eva jumps into a number search with nana. Such a serious student, and then joy when the last number in the puzzle is found.
More Eva, who learned how to knit on this trip. In honour of Canada, she is apparently making me a red scarf. Yeah, I said honour, with the ou.
Then the wine. Oh, the wine. Being a very liberal society, in Canada wine country they cater to all ages and tastes. It's juice, people.
Then a lovely meal at what is becoming our usual spot for a meal when in Niagara wine country, followed by the obligatory picture of Levi and Eva among rows of grape vines.
Summer in Canada is known for a few things, one of them being corn on the cob. Giant cobs of Canadian corn.
Oh yeah, almost forgot the reason we came to Canada, for some silks training. Levi was the star student for student teachers. Nothing like a head strong boy with a very short attention span to push the limits of pedagogy. Yeah, I said pedagogy. Who said anything about feet? Fun fact, in Canada they call them chiropodists. Follow the thread, people.
City hall in Toronto, with a large sign in case you ever forget what city you are in. And it saves the need to label pictures, should anyone want to print hard copies. Of course, you still need to put the date on the back of the photo. So, like: June, 2017 (see reverse for location).
We also went over to the less popular sister city, Otnorot. Not nearly as nice.
Hurry, let's get back to Toronto!
Lunch at the uniquely Canadian Jack Astor's. Levi simply can't keep his eyes off of a screen, so Eva takes matters into her own hands. Trick, it was a game of pick-the-colour-of-crayon game. Yeah, I said colour, with the ou.
The trip closed with some memorable meals, including the return of dad's favourite, boy hair. Yeah, yeah...
Going through the Detroit airport the kids moved up a bit ahead of us. Walking through the tunnel between terminals, and having gotten on several longer distance flights from DTW, I was struck by a vision of the two of them walking through this airport together 10 years from now on their way to some distant adventure together. Stay tuned for one of my before-and-after picture combos.
And Levi had his first experience of seeing someone he knows in an airport in a different city, seeing a student instructor from TKD. The bridging of generations continued at the dinner with a travel-related game on the kids' menu. Things like motel, pack... you know, travel-related words. Levi solved the last one in record time. After all, what can be more essential to travel than keeping your electronics charged?
