French Laundry

This place in Napa that has stupid-crazy waiting lists for people to get in. So dumb. Just come to a farmhouse in France, and eat like royalty. Faster, and probably all in,including airfare and accommodation, cheaper as well. French Laundry, non! French lunch, OUI! Here Eva demonstrates. Salami #1, salami #2, ham, cheese #1, cheese #2, bread, strawberries, nectarines, and of course some champagne. It's the champagne region of France. All the while grazing, for about an hour and a half, in a lazy Sunday.

Leave it to those Peloza kids to show up in a village of 143 people on the one day of the year the village has a big party. Part of it is a brocante, which is apparently French for garage sale. We picked up a couple picachoos, a small bag of kids' toys for two euros, and a small coca shared amongst brother and sister.

So we go out for dinner. Being in rural France we figure we have no choice but to eat very French. Even in Rotterdam we were somewhat Dutch in eating out. But here tonight we go to the second (the only other) Chinese restaurant in Hirson. Seriously, there are two. We've now been to both.

Coming home we watch Shrek 2. Kindred spirit somehow. Then we go back to the white salami, a bit more wine, and some play time to say goodnight to the barn owl. Bonne nuit, monsieur owl.
