Better Than Ever

Who could have guessed that, in only 3 days into the summer, we'd have so many memories. Me, that's who. Bam.

We begin with the first flight from LEX. Something about a Peloza kid in front of an airplane window with the light behind them.

She was shy, snapped that one stealthly. Unlike Levi on the plane train in ATL, bringing teddy along (almost forgot him twice up to this point).

Next, to terminal F where the big birds fly from. Eva got into her game of "head rest!" which is her throwing the plane pillow up and chasing it down. Looks kind of amish somehow.

So on the plane is where we get the jet lag. Not jet lag. The jet lag. But as the kids said, "this plane is really good" what with Big Hero 6 on demand and everything. But eventually even Levi gave up on Baymax for some sleep.

So the first day was a bit of a recovery, largely around the Maritiem Museum, which is 100 feet from the houseboat where we are staying. Just awesome. Or osim, as Levi would spell. How fitting for a stay on a houseboat, a visit to the Maritiem Museum which is just across the water. First with some play outside in the open area.

Then back at the houseboat posing with the long sticky thing.

I recorded the next photo simply tagged as "the night we played Uno on the houseboat in Rotterdam." How cool is that?

It's a legit boat (boot in Dutch), complete with portholes and everything.

But of course the small boat kitchen, combined with the jet lag and the general work/life balance, we go out to La Pizza for dinner. Nice.

Later that night, back on the boat (willing to have a late bed time to account for the time change), Eva puts on the "that show." It's like a game show, with questions and answers. Like "why do people have snot." Yeah, I spelled that right, don't act like you don't know it.

So Thursday is that beautiful day when I start early (when everyone is sleeping) and finish early when one out of three nice days of the year come to Rotterdam. So what do we do, go out on deck. Levi enjoys the roof and sun while Eva enjoys the company.

Off to dinner tonight to a highly rated (and justified) restaurant that is in the Dutch style. Like Greg Fokker, the Dutch colonial style in Detroit. Levi pulls dad's hair down, and the Eva shows off moose antlers, the next step in the progression from rabbit ears. I'm old.

Let's see what the coming days bring for those Peloza kids.
