March Plus

The month of March came and went. You'd think with so much going on there woulda been a post somewhere along the way. But noooooooo, I had to focus on living instead of recording. Again. Given the gap, let's go back to the start. Five weeks ago won't feel like a long time when this is read in 20 years but for this post, I have to use pictures from the last update to remember where to start.

It starts with another TKD tournament in Ohio. And more medals.

His form is particularly sharp, clearly the best in group. Not sure what is going on here.

It is worth noting that during tha trip, which included an overnight stay, discovery of a phenomenal hop juju beer, and a hotel pool, there was no swimming. Just in case, you know, there might be some virus lingering in the pool. Levi voice: foreshadowing.

Warmer weather comes with trips to the playground. Back in the days when you wouldn't think twice about touching the same things as someone else. Levi voice: Foreshadowing.

Training in aerials also continued in earnest. Back in the days when you would just go to a gym and train with a dozen other people. Levi voice: Foreshadowing.  Eva is clearly the best person in the group where she trains, what a phenomenal girl.

And this phenomenal woman. Sitting watching TV one night I was struck by the stunning beauty of my wife. I often am, and if I have a camera handy I take a picture.

Back when you wouldn't be completely crazy to get on a plane, as implied with previous puppy posts, we go out West for a bit. Very stunning Victoria view.

Lots of hiking, paddled and standing in Tofino.

 Wow, that's it.

Normally wouldn't detail this kind of minutae, especially when there are no kids in this part, but we stumbled across one of the nicest gems ever in Fairhaven, WA. Perfect for more walking and standing.

The kids were doing their part back home, spreading a public service announcement about... toilet paper.

And here's the interesting that happened. Everything in the world outside the home just sort of stopped. No campus classes, no campus school for kids. So we need to find lots of stuff without anyone else, but still keep us outside and having fun. We're really good at it.

Recreating (as best we can without a bike) some classic movie scenes.

We're also really good at doing stuff inside the house.

Back outside we're having lots of fires these days, burning sticks and writing on the shed. Master Lopez (of the North) is a character is Eva's head.

Social grilldancing.

We also eat outside, since you know, we can't go into restaurants these days. Out to Midway, to make it bit more special. Leave to TPK to be on a picnic, perfect day, next to a small stream, and still find a way to be captivated by a screen.

I'm doing my part by entertaining the neighbors. For free.

Eva is all about making her own breakfast. Or at least she was for a few days. Very routine, the same thing for about 5 days straight. Calli learned very quickly.

Being outside so much, we cleaned out the garage and upgraded our bike situation all at once. First, the clean out and big give away.

 So much riding around.

Then we discovered the front yard in the evenings.

Very old tymie, even saying hi to some neighbors walking by, and even some strangers. Well, not me. I hate talking to people. But Alexis said hi.

Blanket parties. Bikes are still there...

One interesting way that this time has evolved into some kind of old tyme painting is an evening ritual. Mom makes a loaf of bread, dad tells bad jokes, and kids bask in the glow of being young and creating memories of the great virus of 2020.

To protect her dad, Eva made a mask for my trips to the grocery store. This was the prototype. She made me a washable one the very next day. True story.
