In the short span of one summer, we:
- traveled to two countries in Europe
- got a yellow belt in tae kwon do
- shone brightly in dance classes
- swam like dolphins
- walked the boardwalk on the Jersey Shore
- hiked two miles to a bridge made of rock
- learned to knit
- turned 6
- toured a champagne cellar in Champagne, France
- made out like candy bandits at the 4th of July parade
- hatched a baby dinosaur
- visited a vineyard
- grilled incessantly
- four weeks of arts and science camp, with countless pieces of art, sculpture and fashion (and a few bugs)
- perfected makeup application (and removal)
- saw the White House and Washington Monument
- mastered Mario
- took in a baseball game
- played baseball, including one home run on the roof of the neighbors' house
- put on a play
- made new friends with the kids of Lexington
- slept on a houseboat
- saw a real Kentucky wildcat
- found treasures at a French garage sale
- ran through countless sprinklers and turned the hoses on ourselves
- biked all around Lexington
- built incredible, entirely new worlds in Minecraft
- saw the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the oldest inhabited street in America
- baked like crazy
- learned yoga and silks
- met about a dozen new dogs
- played 100 games of Uno, 37 games of Sorry! and 21 games of Old Maid
- flew a copter drone
- got another copter drone stuck in a tree
- found personal healthcare companions
- learned to play a song on the piano
- got into fighting shape for grades 1 and 2
- did all of Malibu Jacks and Monkey Joe's
- visited the heartland in Columbus, Ohio
- drove a car into the Delaware River
- ran an obstacle course like a turtle
- shot fireworks and held sparklers (twice)
- enjoyed some of the best pizza in the world in suburban Indianapolis
- ate s'mores
- caught fire flies
They look proud of themselves, don't they, with a celebratory peck on the cheek.
I'm going to take a nap now.
